8 Canadians attend VI International Symposium in Santiago, Chile

8  Canadians attended the VI International Indigenous Symposium in Santiago, August 26 & 27.These included:

Sharon Hobenshield (Director of Aboriginal Education) from Vancouver Island University(VIU) in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Florence James (Elder) from VIU in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Geraldine Manson (Elder) from VIU in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Glen Brouwer (Principal of Sunrise Adult Learning Centres, Sunrise School Division) from Beausejour, Manitoba

Paul Zakos (Director of the Collective) from Belleville, Ontario.

Karihwakeron Tim Thompson (President of the Hiawatha Institute for Indigenous Knowledge) from Wahta Mohawk Territory

Banakonda Kish Kennedy Bell (Elder at Wilfred Laurier University) from Brantford, Ontario

Audrey Roodvoets (graduate of Soka University of America) from Belleville, Ontario.


The VIU contingent left on Friday, August 28. The rest of the Canadians left on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday August 30.
